JFTD Sunday Matchup – Buffalo Bills
As a lot of you probably heard this week, Rex Ryan called this week a must win for the Jets. I don’t know if it’s a “Must Win,” but I do know that Jets are mad as hell that they lost on Monday night and they are going to take it all out on the hapless Bills.
The weather should play a major factor in today’s game and if the Jets can’t establish the run, it could get ugly. It will be interesting to see how the California kid Mark Sanchez handles a cold, wet football – another reason the Jets need to run the ball today. It would be nice to see a few more deep balls to LeBraylon, but Sachez has to get Dustin Keller involved and spread the ball effectively until he learns to look effectively look off safeties.
QB’s – JETS
Here is some deep analysis for you – Trent Edwards sucks.
RBs – Tie
Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch are dangerous especially catching the ball out of the backfield. If the Jets can shut down the outlet passes and force Edwards to throw down the field into pressure, we could see some INT’s for the D.
WRs – Bills
With Cotchery and Brad Smith out, we have to give the nod to Bills here. Yes T.O. is older and slower, but he is still dangerous. Lee Evans can make plays, if Edwards can get him the ball. We’ll need to see some consistency out of Braylon Edwards before we will bestow the power of carrying a whole receiving core on his own in the Matchups.
TE’s – JETS
Unless Jay Reimersma suits up with Jim Kelly behind center, Dustin Keller gets the nod here.
O-Line – JETS
The Jets O-line hasn’t been dominate like we all thought, but the Bills line is just not good. Remember Kris Jenkins last year against Buffalo? Well Buffalo drafted a Center to help deal with him. It probably won’t help.
Defense – JETS
It’s hard to give praise to the Defense after last week, but the fact is, if they come off blocks and do what they are supposed to do, they are one of the best in the NFL.
KEY TO THE GAME
The Key match-up this week is the Jets Run Defense vs. the Bills Running game. After a poor showing last week, they need to pick it and stuff the Run game in a cold, wet weather matchup. If they can do that and force Trent Edwards to throw, it could be a long afternoon for the Buffalo Bills.
JFTD prediction
The weather should keep this one close in the first half, but the Jets will pull away.
